About this event

The Queens College Choral Society (QCCS), founded in 1941, only four years after the college itself, began as a way of involving the wider community in the activities of the college. The opportunity to perform major choral works with orchestra draws community members of all ages, a cross-generational membership, along with undergraduate and graduate music majors in the college\'s Aaron Copland School of Music, who perform in the chorus and the orchestra. James John is Professor of Conducting at the Aaron Copland School of Music, Queens College-CUNY, where he directs the QC Vocal Ensemble and Choral Society, and heads the graduate program in choral conducting. Dr. John is also Artistic Director of the Manhattan-based vocal ensemble, Cerddorion, a select chamber choir dedicated to adventurous programs that span the breadth of the choral repertoire, from medieval polyphony to newly commissioned works.
